If you have always wanted to write a novel but just haven’t gotten around to it, here may be just the motivation you need.
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) — that’s right — write a novel in a month!
Whether it’s time, fear, procrastination, or whatever that’s keeping you from writing that novel, the NaNoWriMo challenge is designed to help writers, or aspiring writers, all over the world cut through the excuses and write 50,000 words in 30 days.
It’s not designed to make you a world-class writer, although it might, but rather to help you break through anything that’s holding you back and get you to commit to getting 50,000 words (good or bad) on paper. You won’t be alone. You’ll be taking this challenge along with all the other participants.
So maybe this is just what you need to help propel you to start that writing career you’ve always dreamed of having.
(Or if the mere thought of writing for a living gives you the willies, maybe someone you know would like to hear about this challenge. If so, feel free to forward them this.)
For more information, go to http://www.nanowrimo.org. The fun begins November 1st.
I may join you next year, but this year I’m still working on my next non-fiction creation.
